In short: Faux Reel is a toy for making funny, made-up chat videos. Have fun with it, but please don't use it to fool or hurt anyone. Your chats never leave your device.

Just for fun

Faux Reel makes videos that look like a chat on a phone. They're parody and entertainment, not real screenshots or recordings. The ready-made chats in the library are made up, and any famous people in them appear as affectionate parody, not real quotes.

Not linked to any chat app

Faux Reel isn't made by, connected to or endorsed by WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, iMessage, Instagram, Signal or the companies behind them. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners. We only imitate the general look of their chat screens, for parody.

Please play nice

You're responsible for what you make and share. Don't use Faux Reel to:

scam, trick or blackmail anyone;
make fake "evidence" or pass a video off as a real conversation;
bully, harass or embarrass a real person;
pretend to be someone else, or put words in a real person's mouth to damage them;
break the law, or the rules of the places you post to.

Every video carries a small "fauxreel" mark and ends with a short card that gives the joke away. Please don't crop or edit those out to make a video look genuine. If someone could mistake your video for the real thing, say it's made up.

Your privacy

Your chats stay on your device. The video is made in your browser. What you type is never uploaded to us.
Your settings and your last chat are saved in your browser's storage, so they're still there next time. Clearing your browser data removes them.
No accounts, no ads, no cookies.
Like any website, the page is served by a hosting provider (Microsoft Azure), which keeps standard technical logs such as IP addresses. Fonts come from Google Fonts, and the MP4 and WebM tools are loaded from jsDelivr, so those services see a normal request from your browser too.

No guarantees

Faux Reel is free and provided as it is. We do our best, but we can't promise it will always work or suit what you need, and we're not responsible for what people do with the videos they make.

We may update these terms as Faux Reel grows. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
